The Pennsylvania Traffic Safety Network is a combination of 4 Community Traffic Safety Projects (CTSPs) consolidated into one grant project. CTSP includes 27 of Pennsylvanias’ 67 Counties with a population base of 2,913,904 – or 23.4% – of the state’s population. CTSP staff provides traffic safety coordination for this area with for 6 CTSP Coordinators who collaborate with PennDOT’s DUI Enforcement Projects, the PA Aggressive Driving Enforcement Education Project (PAADEEP), PA Traffic Injury Prevention Project (TIPP), and Buckle Up PA police agencies. CTSP is comprised of the Highway Safety Network in Pottsville, the Southwest Regional Traffic Safety Network in Bridgeville and two remote offices.
The 27 CTSP counties share 3 major areas of concern, or Safety Focus Areas: Aggressive Driving, Unbelted Occupants, and Alcohol Related Fatalities. Other common topics include distracted driving, heavy trucks, older drivers, and younger drivers.
CTSPs are available to assist with technical and program development, training, coordination of media contacts, and the acquisition of materials and equipment. All of these things can be focused directly on your community’s traffic safety issues.
CTSP Coordinators serve as a point of contact and an advocate within your community. They can provide support to reduce the number of traffic related crashes, injuries and deaths. To obtain more information, please click the corresponding region below.
