for the The Pennsylvania Crash Records Department
Funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Crash Records department is committed to transitioning all PA law enforcement agencies (LEAs) from paper crash report submissions to electronic filing. Project staff or Law Enforcement Liaisons (LELs) are stationed throughout the State to provide 24/7 technical assistance and training for any LEA in the use of the electronic crash reporting system and state-of-the-art Crash Diagramming software.
PennDOT´s Highway Safety Office relies entirely upon the accurate and timely submission of crash information received from police agencies to identify causation factors and crash locations. This information enables the deployment of critical Highway Safety efforts such as Aggressive Driving and DUI enforcement actions. Crash recording also can aid in the exploration of the physical or engineering enhancements necessary to help reduce the potential for future crashes.
